Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Cadence collects, why, and what happens to it. It's split into two parts, because getcadence.uk (the marketing website) and the Cadence app (app.getcadence.uk) collect different things for different reasons.
"We", "us", and "Cadence" refer to Luke Wilson, the operator of Cadence. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at hello@getcadence.uk.
Part A — getcadence.uk (the marketing website)
If you're just browsing getcadence.uk without creating an account, this section applies to you.
What we collect
- Standard website analytics via Google Analytics (pages visited, general location, device/browser type, referring site)
- Social sharing/embed cookies where applicable
- If you sign up for our newsletter, your email address (see "Newsletter" below)
See our Cookie Policy for the full list of cookies used on the marketing site and how to control them.
Newsletter
If you choose to sign up for product updates or our newsletter, we collect your email address and store it with Resend, our email delivery provider. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting hello@getcadence.uk. We do not share, sell, or rent this address to any third party, and we do not use it for advertising.
Part B — The Cadence App (app.getcadence.uk)
This section applies once you start using the Cadence app. No sign-up is required to use Cadence.
What we collect
- Account data: no sign-up is required to use Cadence — an internal user ID is generated automatically on your device to store your data. We only collect your email address if you choose to sign up for the newsletter, or if you upgrade to Cadence Pro (required for billing and cross-device sync)
- Planning data: the tasks you add, your priorities, timings, notes, and completion history
- Capacity data: your self-reported energy, focus, and pain levels, break preferences, peak-time preferences, and hard limits
- Free-text profile fields: including a "situation" field and a "hard limits" field, where you can optionally describe your circumstances in your own words (for example, a chronic illness, disability, or condition) so the app can plan around them
- Subscription data: if you upgrade to Cadence Pro, your email is shared with Stripe to process billing (see "Payments" below)
- Notification data: if you enable push notifications, we store a push subscription (a token identifying your device/browser for delivering notifications) until you disable notifications or delete your account
- Sync data (Pro only): if you use cross-device sync, your profile and settings are encrypted on your device before being stored on our servers, and linked to your email so your other devices can find and decrypt them. We cannot read this data — see "Encryption" below
- Usage events: we log in-app actions (for example, "plan generated", "task completed") for our own analytics, using a self-hosted event log — not a third-party analytics/advertising network
- Attribution data: if you arrived at Cadence via a specific link or campaign, we may record which one, linked to your account, so we can understand which channels work. This is not shared with any advertiser
What we do not do
- We do not run advertising, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers
- We do not store your IP address ourselves
- We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking/advertising cookies inside the app
Our infrastructure providers (Vercel, hosting our servers, and Supabase, our database) may briefly log IP addresses as a normal part of running their infrastructure — for example, for security and abuse prevention. We do not have access to use this data ourselves, and it is governed by their own privacy terms, linked below.
Special category data (health-related information)
Cadence is built for people managing variable energy, focus, and chronic conditions. As a result, some of the data you choose to give us — particularly energy, focus, and pain levels, and anything you write in the "situation" or "hard limits" fields — may constitute special category data (including health data) under UK GDPR.
We only process this data because you have chosen to provide it and use it to personalise your plan. By entering this information and using the relevant features, you are giving us your explicit consent to process it for that purpose. You are never required to fill in these fields to use core parts of Cadence, and you can clear or edit them at any time in your profile settings.
We do not use this data for any purpose beyond generating and adjusting your day plan and related in-app features, and it is included in AI processing as described below.
AI processing (Gemini)
Cadence uses Google's Gemini API to generate and adjust your day plan, and to generate short in-app messages ("Wisp"). This means the following data is sent to Google when you use these features:
- Your task names, priorities, and any notes you've added to tasks
- Your self-reported energy and focus levels for the day
- Your profile's peak-time preferences, break preferences, meal times, and hard limits
- Your "situation" free-text field, where provided
We do not include your name, email address, or account ID in anything sent to Gemini.
Day-plan generation and rescheduling are sent via our own server, so Google does not see your IP address for these features. Wisp motivational messages are currently sent directly from your device to Google's API, meaning your IP address is visible to Google for that specific feature.
Wisp currently runs on Google's free-tier Gemini API. Google's standard terms for free-tier usage permit prompts and outputs to be used to improve Google's products, which may include human review. This is different from Google's paid API terms, which do not permit this. We are reviewing this and may move this feature onto stricter terms in future; this policy reflects our infrastructure as it currently stands. If you have concerns about this, you can avoid this specific feature by disabling the Wisp Motivations in the Profile settings.
Day-plan generation currently also uses the same free-tier API.
Ask Cadence (AI chat)
If you use Ask Cadence, your messages are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate a response, in the same manner and under the same terms described above. Ask Cadence is not a medical professional, therapist, or crisis service, and nothing it says is medical, psychiatric, or mental health advice. If you are in crisis or need urgent support, please contact emergency services or a crisis helpline directly — Ask Cadence will also point you to these resources if it detects you may need them, but you should not rely on it as a substitute for professional help.
Payments
If you upgrade to Cadence Pro, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details — Stripe handles this directly. We share your email address and subscription status with Stripe to manage your subscription and billing.
Encryption and cross-device sync (Pro)
If you're a Pro subscriber using cross-device sync, your profile and planning data are encrypted on your own device before being sent to our servers. We store this encrypted blob, but we do not hold the key to decrypt it — only your devices, using your account credentials, can do that. This means we cannot read your synced data, even if we wanted to.
Where your data is stored
- Our primary database (Supabase) is hosted in the EU (Ireland)
- Our application servers (Vercel) run on a global content delivery network, meaning requests may be processed in a data centre outside the UK/EU depending on your location
- Data sent to Google's Gemini API is processed by Google, which may process data outside the UK/EU (including in the United States)
Where your data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the relevant safeguards required under UK GDPR (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms used by our providers).
Who we share data with (sub-processors)
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and authentication | Account data, planning data, capacity data |
| Vercel | Application hosting | All app traffic (server logs only, not stored by us) |
| Stripe | Payment processing | Email address, subscription/billing status |
| Resend | Transactional and newsletter email | Email address |
| Google (Gemini API) | AI-generated planning, Wisp messages, Ask Cadence | Task/profile/capacity data as described above (never your name, email, or account ID) |
How long we keep your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can request a copy of the data we hold about you, or request deletion of your account and associated data, at any time by:
- Deleting your account directly from your profile settings in the app, or
- Using the data request/deletion link in the footer of getcadence.uk
We will action deletion requests within 30 days, except where we're required to retain limited records for legal or accounting purposes (for example, billing records related to a Stripe subscription).
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent (for example, for special category data described above)
To exercise any of these rights, contact hello@getcadence.uk or use the data request link in the site footer. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe your data has been mishandled.
Children's privacy
Cadence is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Cadence's features or infrastructure change. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting how we handle special category data will be communicated more prominently (for example, via email or an in-app notice).
